It’s the same when it comes to making money.
A bit more about my background:
My career (for 15+ years now) has been in digital marketing, with a focus on email and content marketing… that’s likely why building this newsletter was a hand-in-glove fit for me.
I currently work freelance, with 3 ongoing clients, in addition to running Hobby Card Life and my actual card flipping.
And over the years, I’ve learned how valuable community is in helping people achieve shared goals. I’ve probably spent $50k+ in my career on educational products that teach marketing & making money online.
By far, the ones that helped me most had a community aspect.
Where you could ask questions, get feedback, and just generally see what other people are doing.
Sure, this newsletter shows you what I’m up to, but there’s something affirming and confidence-boosting to see what others in the community are doing.
It just seems so dang natural to have that here. Not having a community before, frankly, has been a major miss on my part.
A few rapid-fire points about this:
The HCL Investor Community will be for paid subscribers only. You’ll get access whether you’re on the HCL Investor annual or monthly tiers.
I wanted that element of gatekeeping so we’d have a smaller, but more committed group of flippers. I really don’t want to be a hall monitor watching for bad behavior like in a big Facebook group.
I will be active in there, which is another reason to keep this exclusive (so I can still have a life). It’s a more formal place to get answers from me, and others can chime in as well.
It’ll be hosted on beehiiv (which is the software I use to send out my emails). I know it’s another app on your phone or tab on your computer, but it auto-integrates with your paid subscription, and it also posts my latest newsletters there.
I’m also excited to shoot the breeze about sports cards. I enjoy getting emails from subscribers, but this way others can join in too.
I’m not planning to have a similar community for free subscribers right now. I could set it up and let it run wild, Hunger Games-style, but I know communities get out of hand fast without moderators and admins.
When you first join, there’s a prompt to introduce yourself. Take a second to answer - it makes this whole thing more fun to know a bit about you.
